The Port of Vilagarcía has almost 3,000 meters of berthing line in the commercial docks, with drafts of up to 13 meters deep. Its total area amounts to 575,000 square meters, of which 42% (more than 242,000 meters) correspond to storage areas, both open and closed, among which are specific facilities for the processing and storage of refrigerated products, mainly fish and seafood.
Among the port facilities, the Border Control Post stands out, a key service that houses four different inspection bodies: Foreign Health, Animal Health, SOIVRE (Official Service for Inspection, Surveillance and Regulation of Exports) and Plant Health in its 1,200 square meters Of surface.
For the Port Authority of Vilagarcía, safety is an inalienable principle and for this it houses three basic facilities in its port area: The sub-headquarters of the regional Fire Department; the Civil Protection post and the Control Center, which allows supervising accesses and all port operations in real time.
