The Port of Vilagarcía has almost 3,000 metres of berthing line in commercial docks, with depths up to 13 metres deep. Its total area amounts to 575,000 square metres, of which 42% (more than 242,000 metres) correspond to storage areas, both open and closed, among which are specific facilities for the processing and storage of refrigerated products, mainly fish and seafood.

Port facilities include the Border Inspection Post, a key service that houses four different inspection bodies: External Health, Animal Health, SOIVRE (Official Service of Inspection, Surveillance and Regulation of Exports) and Plant Health in its 1,200 square metres of area.

For the Port Authority of Vilagarcía, security is an unwavering principle and to this end it includes three basic provisions in its port area: The subheadquarters of the regional Fire Brigade; the Civil Protection post and the Control Centre, which allows access and all port operations to be supervised in real time.
